What’s Rheya been up to?

Time has been flying by so quickly that I can’t even keep up with the new things she can do now!

Rheya

Rheya still likes to spend a lot of time on her tummy. She even fell asleep on her tummy yesterday afternoon while she was playing on the floor. Speaking of sleeping, Rheya has been sleeping in her crib at night and during most naps. Vaughan and Rheya share a room, so we were concerned about them keeping each other awake, but so far it really hasn’t been an issue. Rheya still wakes up in the middle of the night (usually just once or twice), but if one of us can get to her quickly enough and get her settled back down, she’ll go right back to sleep.

She talks a lot and has the cutest high-pitched squeal/sigh that would just melt your heart. She still likes her pacifier and falls asleep pretty easily if she has it. I’ve also noticed that if the pacifier is nearby, she can pick it up and get it into her mouth correctly about 50% of the time. She puts EVERYTHING in her mouth. This will be a very different experience for us since Vaughan never did that…and still doesn’t. Rheya hasn’t expressed much interest in sucking her thumb although she does have her hands in her mouth a lot of the time. We don’t see any teeth making their way in yet, but there sure is a lot of drool these days!

She’s on a regular eating schedule which is nice since it makes it very easy to plan what we’re doing around her meal times. She has had some rice cereal and also some squash which she seemed to enjoy very much, so it doesn’t look like we’ll have much trouble getting her on solid foods.

Rheya is completely fascinated and thoroughly entertained by Vaughan. He’s the best assistant ever! She will laugh at us sometimes, but Vaughan makes her laugh EVERY time. Rheya watches Vaughan all day and gets irritated if she knows he’s running around, but she’s unable to see him.

She weighs a little less than Vaughan did at this age, but she’s in the 50th percentile and the pediatrician said she’s doing really well. She is the light of our lives and an absolute joy! I love to watch her grow and learn and explore every day. Each time she learns a new skill I feel excited and a little sad at the same time because I know it means she is that much closer to the next stage and that much closer to growing up!
