After staying the night at my sister’s house on Saturday, we got up and headed out to The Denver Zoo for some fun! Vaughan loves the zoo…well, actually, so do we! Who doesn’t love the zoo? My sister and her kids came along as well and Vaughan was thrilled to have his cousins there with us.

I have two older siblings whom I don’t see terribly often. I see my sister a few times a year, but I only see my brother every few years. It’s rare when we can all get together, but we actually had the chance this past weekend when my brother was here visiting for his birthday. We all went down to my sister’s house in Colorado and had a nice time catching up. We were also able to catch up with one of our cousins and her family.

What a great time! I wish we could do it more often, but it’s hard living in different states and having busy lives. Hey, there’s always Facebook for keeping in touch!

We were outside this afternoon and the light was really great, so I decided to snap a few pictures of the kids. Enjoy!

Rheya has reached another big milestone! She’s sitting up on her own. Although she’s still a little bit wobbly, I was able to get some pictures of her latest accomplishment.

She and Vaughan both reached this milestone at almost exactly the same age. Here’s another comparison of them doing the same thing at seven months old.

While Vaughan had to open his mouth to balance, it appears that Rheya has to stick out her tongue to achieve just the right stability!

It’s not complete yet, but this is part of Rheya’s “Halloween Princess” costume.

There will be a black onesie and a headband with a flower on it. She’ll be the cutest Halloween Princess I’ve ever seen!

This was a neat little project I thought I would try out. I found the idea for it on this blog. Vaughan and I scribbled on some paper with some markers and colored pencils. Then I cut out circles to fit the flat-bottom marbles, glued the paper circles to the marbles, added a couple coats of Mod Podge, and hot-glued a strong magnet to each marble. Pretty easy and so cool!

I did another set using some of my patterned scrapbook paper (of which I have TONS) and they turned out pretty neat, but I think I like these scribble designs even better! I really like they way the glue smeared the marker a little bit when I attached the paper to the marbles. It gives it a really neat water color effect.
