Warning! Cuteness Ahead!

Saturday, October 31st, 2009

Here’s the way I see it…Halloween is just one big photo opportunity and we took full advantage today! Are you ready for the cuteness?

There they are. Vaughan the Dinosaur and Rheya the Halloween Princess! We did just a little bit of trick-or-treating and then spent the rest of the evening handing out candy at our house.

Pumpkin Fun!

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

This evening was the perfect time for our annual pumpkin carving adventure! We did three pumkins last year and decided that was too much work, so we chose to do just one this time. I picked a nice simple face and Rick did the scooping and carving…with Vaughan’s “assistance” of course. We also were curious to see what Rheya’s reaction would be to a bowl full of icky, slimy pumpkin guts. In typical girl fashion, she wasn’t all that interested in touching any of it…although she did taste it. Ewww.

Here’s a comparison of Vaughan and Rheya’s reaction to a bowl of pumpkin guts. You can see that Vaughan dove in without hesitation while Rheya was content to just look.

Rheya’s First Tooth

Monday, October 26th, 2009

We noticed some of Rheya’s teeth making their way in a few months ago, but it wasn’t until just this week that the first one finally came all the way through. I was just going to blog about it and post a cute picture of Rheya to go along with it, but miraculously I was actually able to get a picture of the teeny tiny little tooth right there at the bottom of her cute smile!

Here’s the cute picture:

More birthday celebration

Sunday, October 25th, 2009

My parents were out of town on Rick’s birthday, so we celebrated a bit late with them, but we had a very nice evening. Great dinner, great cupcakes and great company!

On the hunt for some pumpkins

Tuesday, October 20th, 2009

Last year my mom’s group did a mini pumpkin hunt with the kids. It was a lot of fun so we decided to do it again this year. We each brought several mini pumpkins or gourds, hid them among the trees at the park and then let the kids run out and find them all! The fun was cut short this year by some nasty wind and rain, but I did get a few pictures…including one of the crazy squirrel that STOLE one of our little pumpkins and ran up a tree to munch on it!

Mini Cheeseheads

Vaughan and Rheya received some really cool Packers gear from Pappy and Grandma Terry, so here they are on football Sunday showing their spirit!

Happy Birthday, Rick!

Wednesday, October 14th, 2009

We celebrated Rick’s birthday with some friends, some pizza, some presents and a really big cookie. Rick’s birthday is only four days before his friend, Jason’s birthday, so we included Jason and his boys in the celebration. Lots of fun!

A few miscellaneous things from recent days…

Monday, October 12th, 2009

Nothing terribly important or exciting to report, but here are a few things that have been happening around here.

I finished a little knitted shrug for Rheya.

Rheya had her first teething biscuit the other day. She thoroughly enjoyed it and made a pretty big mess.

Marcel is still lazy.

The kids are still silly and cute!

Oh, and I don’t have a picture to go along with this (and aren’t you glad?), but Vaughan is using the potty on a semi-regular basis at home now. We still have to work on it, but he’s getting the idea and has gone completely on his own many times now. We can see the light at the end of the potty training tunnel!

A Fun Day on the Farm

Sunday, October 4th, 2009

We’ve been to Harvest Farms the last two years and have thoroughly enjoyed it, but we decided to try something different this year. We went to Miller Farms near Platteville, Colorado for their annual Harvest Festival. It was a lot of fun and they had tons of great things for kids to jump on, climb on and play with. Vaughan really loved all the old tractors and had to climb on almost every single one.

We met a very nice horse and some very friendly goats.

There were plenty of pretty pumpkins.

And lots of attempts at getting both kids to smile in a picture at the same time. Some attempts were successful…aaaaand others…not so much.

We had a great day and will definitely find our way back to Miller Farms again!
