Sometimes she just makes the cutest faces!
It’s one of the most frustrating things about Spring in Wyoming. She teases you with some truly beautiful weather…and then it snows again. Here’s a perfect example. It was a gorgeous day yesterday. It was bright, sunny, beautiful and there was no wind. The kids played outside for a long time…no sweaters or jackets and we loved every second of it. Then today…SNOW!
I know Spring is very different in other parts of the country, but around here, the first day of Spring could be lovely….or it could be snowing. Today we had a mostly sunny day with LOTS of wind. We took a drive up to Vedauwoo and had a little picnic. Rick and Vaughan drove their rock crawlers around for a little while, too. It was a nice day and you can see there was still some snow up at Vedauwoo, but I could have done without the wind.
By the way, Vaughan took that picture of Rick, Rheya and myself. Not bad for a four-year-old!
We had another beautiful day today, so we met some friends at the park to play for a little while. Vaughan was busy running around playing pirates with his friends, so I pushed Rheya on the swings. She loves the swings! Sometimes that’s the only thing she’ll do when we get to the park.
My mom held onto to some of my old clothes…ones that had particular sentimental value. I’m so glad that I have a daughter who can wear some of those things. Maybe she won’t wear them for the sake of being fashionable (hey, these clothes are from the mid-seventies!), but it makes for some really cute photo ops! Here is Rheya in some overalls that were mine. My mom made them and my name is even appliqued on the leg. We couldn’t find any really great pictures of me wearing the overalls, but here are three that seem to have been taken on my second birthday. And by the way, doesn’t Rheya look just like me (minus the curly locks)?
Vaughan and Rick have been enjoying their remote control rock crawlers lately. When it’s cold and yucky outside, they have been driving them around the living room…over pillows and books and toys. Since we had a little bit of nice weather, we decided to take them out to the park for some real rock crawling.
I’m sure I’ve said it before and I’m sure I’ll say it again, but one of the best things about Wyoming is the little breaks we get from winter weather. No, it’s not Spring yet…we’ll still have more snow and cold, but today was a beautiful day considering it’s only March 2nd. While Vaughan was at preschool, Rheya and I played in the backyard for a little while.
Our little girl is two! To think about how much she has learned and grown in the last two years just boggles my mind. She has gone from an eight pound seven ounce helpless newborn to the independent little person that she is today. She’s beautiful and smart and full of energy. We love you to pieces, Sweet Pea!
We had a little birthday celebration at Nana and Grandpa’s house…complete with some presents and a butterfly cake that I made. A good time was had by all!
