Some randomness of late…

Here are a few pictures of some random things we’ve had going on lately.

That’s it for now!

Vedauwoo (that’s Vee-da-voo for those of you who don’t live here…)

Since I am FINALLY not working on Saturdays anymore, we decided this would be a perfect day to go up to Vedauwoo to hang out a little bit and try to get a good picture for our Christmas cards this year. It was a beautiful day and Vedauwoo never disappoints in the “majestic scenery” department. Vedauwoo is somewhat of an “oasis” of gigantic rocks surrounded by trees and then endless high plains. It lies between Laramie and Cheyenne within the Medicine Bow National Forest. It’s a great place for climbing, hiking, camping, fishing, mountain biking, four wheeling and photographs!

Here are just a few of the pictures we were able to get.

Cuz they’re who’s clues? Blue’s Clues!!

Happy Halloween everyone! We had a great evening which started out a little rough since Vaughan wasn’t AT ALL keen on the idea of wearing the Blue’s Clues costume that I worked so hard to make. But, he got over it and ended up enjoying the little bit of “trick-or-treating” that we did. He also helped hand out candy (and when I say he helped, I mean he said “bye” and closed the door after one of us handed out the candy).

Anyway, here are a few pictures!

I knitted the candy corn bag that Vaughan used as his treat bag.

I also made this “costume” for the baby. I appliqued a pumpkin onto a shirt so she wouldn’t feel left out! We hope you all had a great Halloween!

A-hunting we will go…

Pumpkin hunting, that is…

We had a fun playdate with my mom’s group today where we hunted for pumpkins (much like hunting for Easter eggs) at the park. The kids all seemed to enjoy it and I got a few cute pictures of Vaughan’s search for pumpkins.

Since toddlers have a pretty short attention span, the rest of the time was spent playing at the playground…

The weather was great for about an hour and then that Wyoming wind kicked up and brought the temperatures back down a bit, so we called it a day!

It’s a girl!

I think most of you are already aware that we are expecting again. For those of you who are not aware…I guess you are now! We’re very excited and feel as any parents might feel the second time around. (Less stressed about the whole process and probably a bit more prepared for what’s to come.)

Anyway, the details…

Due date: mid-February 2009
Sex of the baby: GIRL!
Name: Rheya Marie Woodard (that’s pronounced Ray-uh…and yes, it’s the same name we had picked out for Vaughan if he had been a girl)
Jenny’s pregnancy this time around: pretty much the same, just more exhausting
Vaughan’s feelings on the subject of a new sibling: ???

We had our 22 week ultrasound (the day before Rick’s 35th birthday) and found out that Rheya is healthy and doing very well. She was very cooperative and let the ultrasound technician check all the things that need to be checked. She’s moving around a lot and already causing some mild sleep disruption for me…that will only get worse…I know, I know.

Here are a few of the ultrasound photos for your viewing enjoyment.

Say hello to little Rheya Marie Woodard!

We can’t wait to meet her!

Chilly day in the corn

We made another trip down to Wellington this year to visit the Harvest Farm Corn Maze. We went last year and had a great time and got some fantastic pictures, too. This year, unfortunately, it was damn cold, so it was much more difficult (read: impossible) to get any really great pics. We made the best of it and actually did walk through the maze this time. It’s a good thing Rick was leading the way. He’s great with maps and directions, so I never felt even the slightest twinge of panic about potentially being lost in a field of corn for the rest of the day.

Here are a few pictures that we did get. The petting zoo was a big hit with Vaughan!

It really is a bummer it was so cold that day, but Vaughan handled it very well and we had a great lunch at Mimi’s Cafe in Loveland afterwards. It made up for all the mud, cold temperatures and lack of hot chocolate at the corn maze!

It’s like a brand new house!

So, the siding is FINALLY done! It was pretty loud around here for three days, but they got it all done and it looks fantastic. We couldn’t be happier with the results!

Just to review, this is how the house looked BEFORE (on the day we moved in – June 30, 2004):

And here it is NOW:

New siding

Pretty big difference, right? Of course, the landscaping is in need of some help…ok…major surgery, but that will happen eventually. In the meantime, we’re just happy to have the best looking siding on the block!

Kinnearing

Bear with me for a few moments while I share this hilariousness.

I frequently read a blog belonging to a woman named Stephanie Pearl-McPhee. She’s a very talented knitter, accomplished author and all around great writer/comedian. She is The Yarn Harlot. Even if you don’t knit, her blog is totally entertaining.

Back in August, she posted a blog about spotting Greg Kinnear in an airport and being too chicken to talk to him or even take his picture, she attempted to take his picture without actually holding the camera up to her face. Instead, she held the camera at the level of her purse. She was not successful in getting Greg Kinnear’s picture, but she did invent the word “kinnearing.” What’s really great is that here we are just a couple of months later and that word has been added to the Urban Dictionary, has been made official by The New York Times and has even come to the attention of Greg Kinnear himself who admitted on Conan’s show that he has tried some “kinnearing” of his own!

This has led to even further craziness with one of The Yarn Harlot’s faithful readers getting a picture of Greg Kinnear at the Early Show WHILE holding up an unfinished knitted sock in the picture. (I guess I should explain that getting pictures of people holding a “knitted sock-in-progress” is one of Stephanie Pearl-McPhee’s gimmicks. She travels A LOT and meets all kinds of people and asks them to hold her sock for pictures. She also takes pictures of the sock as she tours around various cities…much like someone might photograph a garden gnome in front of the Washington Monument. Just scroll through some of her previous blogs…you’ll see what I’m talking about.)

And here’s a great one! Another loyal Yarn Harlot reader recently met Barrack Obama and GOT HIM TO HOLD HER UNFINISHED SOCK FOR A PICTURE!

I’m not sure what to say except that those are some gutsy knitters!
