Our baby is FOUR!

Happy birthday, Sweet Pea! Rheya is four years old today and getting more beautiful, smart, and funny every day! We had a Hello Kitty party for her with a few friends. (I have to mention that Rheya calls her Kitty Hello…despite everyone around her saying it correctly. It’s adorable!) We played “Hello Kitty Says” and “Pin the Bow on Hello Kitty” and then had some food and yummy cupcakes. A friend of mine who has a business making party decor made some really cute things for the party like the birthday banner and the cupcake toppers. I also made the fun wreath you can see pictured below as well as the wall of Hello Kitty coloring pages. I always have fun organizing the kids’ birthday parties, but I sure am glad when it’s all over. At least I can rest between February and December!

Here are a few pictures of Rheya enjoying her party!

Curly-haired Beauty and Heart Day Fun!

It’s true, Rheya did not inherit my curly hair, but at least we can get some artificial curls with the help of some, mousse, a flat iron (yes, a FLAT iron), and some hair spray. It’s adorable and she looks like a little mini country singer. Lol!

Here are a few pictures of her wearing some new petti skirts that I just ordered. They make great photo props and she makes a great model to show them off!

Speaking of hair, I was dying to try out this cute “heart” hairstyle on Rheya for Valentine’s Day! Here she is in the dress I made for her and her super cute and festive hair. Happy Valentine’s Day!

Introducing Nova!

We have an adorable new family member! We adopted Nova from the Black Dog Animal Rescue (the same organization that we adopted Ellie from) and she is cute, funny, and ALL energy…ALL the time. She’s a Red Heeler (Australian Cattle Dog) and boy, does she ever HEEL! If anyone gets up to go anywhere in the house, she is compelled to follow along. It’s kind of amusing, really.  :) She’s learning some tricks and we have discovered that she is a great jumper. Ellie and Nova get along really well and have lots of fun playing…until Ellie is too tired and tells Nova to buzz off. Here are a few random pictures of Miss Nova!

And, you may be wondering how the other animals are doing. Everyone is great! Keo hates the dogs and avoids them whenever she can. There is a lot of hissing when she walks through a room. (I don’t have many recent pictures of her, but there are a few in the iPhone pictures post.) Jinx is still an outdoor cat and seems to be doing fine…even in the cold temps. We have a couple of warm places for him to sleep and he knows where to go for food, water, and warmth. He comes inside every now and then, but we have to watch him to make sure he doesn’t torment Keo. Ellie is enjoying Nova’s company, but she’s not a cuddly dog, so Nova can’t sleep to close to Ellie or she gets and earful of growling. We had to switch Ellie to scheduled mealtimes which she was not happy about, but if we leave food out for her, Nova eats all in about 4 seconds flat. She’ll get used to it, I hope!

Have I mentioned how much I love my iPhone?

Yes, here it is…another installment of “Jenny’s iPhone Pics” (October 2012 through January 2013). What did we do before iPhone’s?  I guess we missed a lot of picture opportunities. Hmmm….

We Wish You a Merry Christmas!

Despite half of us being sick this year, we still managed to pull it together for a very nice Christmas with the Funks and Nana (Grandma was sick as well, so she couldn’t make it). I had a sinus infection, my sister and my nephew both had whooping cough, Rheya had a cold, and Vaughan had a minor cold, but he wasn’t quite himself. We kept things pretty simple with dinner on Christmas Eve (along with some lovely singing courtesy of the kids) and some fun presents on Christmas Day. Since there were quite a few photos, I put together a slide show for your enjoyment. Merry Christmas!

Memories on the Tree

I thought it might be fun to post a few pictures of some of our Christmas ornaments. Some are old, some are new, and all are special in some way.  :)

The first time Rick and I decorated a tree together, it was amazing to see the similarities between some of our childhood ornaments. We both have brass ornaments with our names engraved on them. I had a Winnie-the-Pooh and he had a Tigger from the same era. I did not, however, come into this marriage with any Green Bay Packers ornaments….those were all his.  ;)

More Christmas Cuteness

Maybe the Christmas season just needs to be renamed “Cuteness” because it just seems to be everywhere we look! We attended Rheya’s first Christmas Program at her preschool. She did so well and actually did sing loud enough that we could hear her every now and then.  :)  She can be quite a little performer…when she’s not feeling too shy, that is.
