Merry Christmas!

…or Happy Holidays or whatever is politically correct these days.

We had a great Christmas spent with family here in town. It was a busy day full of gifts and food and you can see the photographic evidence of our Christmas 2005 in the gallery!

One of my personal favorite gifts? I’d have to say I’m really excited about my iPod TransPod (FM Transmitter/Charger/Player) for my car. Rick got it for me so I can finally listen to all of my tunes in the car without having to make endless CDs. Way cool!

We hope you all had a safe and wonderful Christmas. Here’s to peace health and happiness in the new year!

Holly cat

Our oldest cat, Holly, had lost so much weight recently we decided to take her to the vet. They did a few tests and determined she has hyperthyroidism. Apparently it happens to some older cats (average age of 12 years) and Holly will be 12 in January.

It’s not great news, but at least it’s something treatable. We have to give her two doses of Methimazole everyday for the rest of her life. It won’t ever cure the hyperthyroidism, but it will control it and she should start gaining some weight back very soon.

Poor kitty…at least she’s still happy and friendly, just like she’s always been. She even puts up with the two younger cats and all of their wild hijinx.

Some new pictures added

Hey! I just added some more pictures to our photo gallery. I had a bunch of photos on CD and I finally sorted through them and found a few old ones.

There’s one of me with my new car…

Jenny

And some from the party the gourmet group had for us the night before our Cheyenne Luau Reception…

And also some from last weekend when Barb came over and helped us bake Christmas cookies!

O Christmas Tree…

The tree is up and decorated! We were a little concerned about the kitten and the tree, but so far she has only demolished one ornament and knocked a couple of others on the floor.

The tree really is nice. We bought it the day after Christmas in 2003…it was significantly marked down from the original price. I’d highly recommend that as an option for Christmas tree purchases!

Merry Merry!

Baby, it’s c-c-c-cold outside!

Yikes! I heard that we broke the record low for this this week. I think it was -19 degrees the night before last and it got up to a blazing 5 degrees yesterday afternoon. Despite the bitter cold temps, it’s been nothing but blue skies for the last few days. It’s already much warmer today than it has been. Of course, 10 degrees feels warmer than it has been, so I don’t know if that’s really saying much!

Music of the Night…

Well, maybe music of the afternoon… We went to Denver yesterday to see Phantom of the Opera at the Buell. It was fantastic as always! I have seen the show twice before, but this was Rick’s first. We thoroughly enjoyed it and since we saw the matinee, we still got home at a very reasonable hour. It’s so nice to live just far enough away from the action that it can still be enjoyed, but without the daily hassels of traffic and too many people.

Until next time,

Jenny

Happy Thanksgiving!

Here’s hoping you all have a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving. Hopefully no lamp posts came crashing down on you this morning due to a runaway M&M balloon. (If you’re a parade junkie like me then you know exactly what I’m talking about…)

Anyway, we’ll be enjoying a delicious meal with my parents and my grandma over at Rick’s mom’s house. Our contribution to the meal is a batch of tasty Spiced Cranberry Rolls! No shopping for us tomorrow…just some more work on the basement remodel. We’ll take some pictures of the progress and post them later.

Enjoy your turkey and a nice long nap!

Jenny (and Rick)
