So, how’s the remodel coming along?

Well, it’s getting there…slowly but surely. We have a new gas fireplace in the basement and it is working beautifully. Next up will be lights and other electrical, then some drywall and painting, a cool new facade for the fireplace, a mantle, and then some carpet. Somewhere in there we want to replace the windows, but we’ll need to wait until we can save up the money for that. I’m hoping to have a nice, cool basement to use when it starts getting hot around here next summer!

Here is the current state of our basement. I like to call Rick “Tim ‘The Tool Man’ Taylor”…you know from that show, Home Improvement? Tim Taylor had every tool known to man…and so does Rick. What you see pictured here is only a very very small percentage of it.:) I’m glad he’s so super handy!

More iPhone Pics

I like assembling these iPhone photo blog posts. It’s fun to look back through six months worth of pictures from my phone! Here are some pictures from April 2012 through September 2012. Enjoy!

Here we are – 2012!

As is our tradition, we had some family pictures taken last week. This year I traded photography services with Sarah Hannes of Masterpiece Photography. I think the pictures came out great and we ended up with beautiful weather and beautiful light for her family session and for ours, too. Just a few days before our scheduled session, Vaughan came home from school with a huge shiner on his cheek (that later turned into a black eye). He got hit in the cheek with some piece of playground equipment. It was not the best timing, but, fortunately, Photoshop saved the day! It’s always a little difficult with kids, but we did get a few of Rheya smiling.  :) Here are some of my favorites!

Rheya’s Fall Photos

Since Rheya doesn’t get school pictures yet, I decided we had better do something that counts as a “fall photo” so we snapped a few yesterday afternoon when the light was just perfect and the colors were amazing. This is an area just down the road from our house. We encountered a woman walking her dog as we were shooting these photos and she agreed that the colors were just about perfect and probably wouldn’t last much longer. So, here is Rheya at about three-and-a half years old.

I Pledge Allegiance…

We are so excited to have our very own flagpole complete with an American flag and a Wyoming flag! We bought the flagpole from a vendor at Frontier Days and we are quite happy with it so far…assuming it stands up to the wind like they say it will. They say it’s been tested in sustained winds of 90 MPH! We also put up Rick’s Green Bay Packers flag for the first game of the season. That flag isn’t nearly as substantial as the others so it can’t be left out for long in the wind or weather.
